The Guernsey Pilotage Board is inviting expressions of interest (EOI) from suitably qualified and experienced mariners who may be interested in joining the Guernsey Pilotage Service as a General Pilot serving the harbours of St Peter Port and St Sampson, which accommodate a diverse range of vessel types. Operations in St Peter Port and the anchorage include passenger ferries, general cargo vessels, cruise ships and superyachts. St Sampson handles dry bulk cargo vessels and coastal tankers. The service also offers pilotage for the islands of Alderney and Sark.
The Pilotage Board is currently reviewing the future structure and terms of employment for the pilotage service. This EOI exercise is intended to assess the availability of potential candidates and assist the Board in considering future options for the long-term operating model of the pilotage service. Please note that this is not a formal recruitment exercise and does not constitute an offer of employment. Participation in this EOI process does not guarantee that a recruitment process will follow.
Expressions of interest are welcomed from individuals meeting the following criteria, although alternative qualifications may be considered depending on experience:
• Valid STCW Master Mariner Unlimited (II/2) CoC issued by the UK or an EEA state.
• Valid ENG1 medical certificate.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Relevant ship-handling expertise.
• Ability to remain calm, focussed and effective under pressure.
• Willingness to relocate to Guernsey, if required.
