A public inquiry will take place between 12 and 15 October 2021, held by an inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Transport, with regards to an objection raised by Arun Yacht Club, Littlehampton Yacht Club and Littlehampton Marina under section 31 of the Harbours Act 1964.

The objection concerns certain vessel and passenger dues on the ferry operating wholly within the harbour imposed by Littlehampton Harbour Board in respect of the tax years ending 2019 and 2020.

The Littlehampton Harbour Dues public inquiry, under section 31 of the Harbours Act 1964, relates to certain charges contained in Littlehampton Harbour Board’s schedule of charges, fees and dues for the periods:

  • 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2019
  • 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020

The inquiry will take place between 12 and 15 October 2021 and will be held by an inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Transport with regards to an objection raised by:

  • Arun Yacht Club
  • Littlehampton Yacht Club
  • Littlehampton Marina

Following the inspector’s recommendation, the Secretary of State for Transport will make a decision under section 31(6) of the Harbours Act 1964 to approve the dues as imposed or to give a direction to Littlehampton Harbour Board in accordance with section 31(2) of the act that the dues should be imposed at a lower rate than at which imposed or that the dues should not be imposed at all.
