Consultation on the UK Marine Strategy marine monitoring programmes closing soon

Consultation on the updated UK Marine Strategy Part Two

On 25 August, we contacted you to invite your comments on the proposed updates to the marine monitoring programmes for the state of the UK’s seas, as outline in the consultation document for the UK Marine Strategy Part Two.

The consultation document sets out the monitoring programmes we propose to use to gather data to assess the indicators we use to measure progress towards Good Environmental Status across biodiversity, productivity, and pressures in UK seas. It notes the progress we have made since Part Two was originally published in 2014 and identifies the gaps and opportunities we aim to address over the next 6 year cycle.

To those of who you have already submitted responses to the consultation, thank you kindly for your consideration and insights. For those of you still wishing to submit comments, please note that the consultation will close on Tuesday 17 November.

The consultation and details of how to respond can be found here: https://consult.defra.gov.uk/marine/updated-uk-marine-strategy-part-two-marine-monitor/
