Associate Member: Marine Professional (AMMP)

Various levels of Associate membership are available depending on applicant’s professional responsibilities and position:
Associate Member: Harbour Officer (AMHO)
A Member qualifies as an Associate Member: Harbour Officer if:

  • he is employed in a marine operations supervisory or advisory role in a harbour environment, but does not deputise for the FM1 in his absence. To include, but not be restricted to, port marine operations functions such as pilot, VTS officer and marine officer; or,
  • he is an individual with a valid UKHMA Harbour Master Certificate who would otherwise not qualify as a FM1 or FM2;

The Council has absolute discretion as to whether to admit an eligible person to AMHO, status. A Member shall immediately cease to be a AMHO, if he ceases to be eligible as an AMHO. An AMHO shall be entitled to receive notice of and to attend all general meetings and but shall not be entitled to vote on issues put to a ballot. An AMHO shall have unrestricted access to defined Member areas of the UKHMA website.

Associate Member: Marine Professional (AMMP)
A Member qualifies as an Associate Member: Marine Professional if:

  • he is employed in a non-port marine operations management, supervisory or advisory role that is not otherwise covered by other Member categories. To include, but not be restricted to, pilotage managers, VTS managers, training managers, Duty Holders and Designated Persons.
The Council has absolute discretion as to whether to admit an eligible person to AMMP, status. A Member shall immediately cease to be a AMMP, if he ceases to be eligible as an AMMP. An AMMP shall be entitled to receive notice of and to attend all general meetings and but shall not be entitled to vote on issues put to a ballot. An AMMP shall have restricted access to Member areas of the UKHMA website.
Associate Member: Aspirant (AMA)
A Member qualifies as an Associate Member: Aspirant if:
  • he does not yet qualify as an AHMO but aspires to become a Harbour Master or Harbour Marine Officer; or,
  • he does not qualify for any other Member category but fully supports the Objectives of the Association and wishes to participate in Member activities.

The Council has an absolute discretion as to who shall become an AMA. A Member shall immediately cease to be a AMA, if he ceases to be eligible as an AMA An AMA shall be entitled to receive notice of and to attend all general meetings and but shall not be entitled to vote on issues put to a ballot. An AMA shall have restricted access to Member areas of the UKHMA website. An individual who is eligible to hold Commercial Member status is not entitled to be an Associate Member of any category.
