Harbour Master – North Sunderland Harbour

North Sunderland Harbour Commissioners are currently seeking to recruit a Harbour Master who will be located at North Sunderland Harbour, Seahouses.

Under the guidance of the North Sunderland Harbour Commissioners, the Harbour Master shall control the Marine Safety Management and operations within the Statutory Harbour Limits in accordance with the board’s statutory responsibilities, under our present Bye-laws. The Harbour Master will be expected to maintain compliance and implement the UK maritime regulatory requirements and best practice as outlined by the Port Marine Safety Code and the board’s operating procedures and work alongside the designated individuals to help implement the new Harbour Revision Order (HRO) presently being implemented.

PRINCIPAL TASKS:
Balancing the needs of Harbour users and wider stakeholders whilst safeguarding the assets and interests of the North Sunderland Harbour Commissioners shall be essential whilst providing effective control of harbour activities in peak periods and undertaking annual inspection and maintenance of moorings and navigation assets.

In consultation with the North Sunderland Commissioners the Harbour Master shall strive to maintain a smooth and harmonious relationship with all harbour users by means of direct engagement, information broadcasts and written advice. Collection of evidence, preparation of statements and enforcement of harbour byelaws and other regulations in accordance with our new forthcoming HRO.
